FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Here are answers to some common questions:

There are compelling reasons to utilize the employee assistance program's services.

  • It is available to all MC employees and immediate household members at no cost, making it easily accessible to everyone.
  • Whether you are facing a true crisis or simply need someone to talk to, the program is here to provide support tailored to your needs.
  • To enhance your well-being and find the help you require.

You will talk with one of the professionals about what is troubling you. Once they learn more about your situation, the professional will recommend specific ways to help. Sometimes several additional sessions between you and the FSAP professional will be necessary - the number of additional sessions is dependent upon the nature of the problem and the number of sessions available to you.

In other instances, the FSAP professional will recommend a counselor or agency in your community that specializes in the help you need. In all cases, your FSAP professional will stay in touch with you to make sure you are getting the necessary assistance.

All information regarding your participation in the program is confidential except as governed by state and federal laws and regulations.  Examples of cases that require reporting include, instances where your emotional condition makes you a threat to yourself or others, suspected child or elder abuse, and, in some states, spousal abuse.

The College will not know you participated in the FSAP unless you give your written consent.

Sometimes a supervisor may recommend that you contact the FSAP if there has been a noticeable decline in job performance.  If you decide to follow the recommendation, your supervisor will only be informed that the initial contact was made; no information about your conversation will be given to your supervisor without your written consent.

Great news! The services are completely free for both employees and their immediate household members. No costs will be incurred, ensuring you can access the support you need without any financial burden.

You are eligible for six (6) free sessions per "situation" every year.
Examples of situations and their corresponding six (6) free sessions are as follows:

  • Death in the family
  • Legal issue
  • Substance abuse
  • Work stress

Should an employee require long-term treatment or face a more severe situation, our EAP counselors will provide a referral to connect them with additional care.

The counselors are highly qualified professionals, holding either a master's or doctoral degree in counseling, psychotherapy, or social work. Additionally, they are fully licensed as mental health professionals in the state they practice in.

To ensure comprehensive support, the counselors possess expertise in various areas. Some may even have additional certifications in substance abuse counseling, relationship therapy, meditation, and other specialized fields.
