Employee Spotlight: Libby McClayton, Service-Learning Coordinator, Office of Student Life
Since joining Montgomery College three (3) years ago, Libby McClayton has been a driving force behind Student Life programs that connect students with the community through service and leadership. Transitioning from the nonprofit sector, she was drawn to MC’s diversity and the opportunity to engage with students from all backgrounds and majors.
One of her proudest achievements was securing a grant for the 9/11 Day Project, which brought students together to cook meals for veterans and visit the Pentagon Memorial. “Many of our students were born after 9/11,” Libby shared. “It gave them a personal and human connection to history.”
Libby also leads Impact MC, the College’s service-learning leadership program, expanding it to include career panels, LinkedIn workshops, and alumni mentors. She finds the most reward in helping students discover their strengths and unite around shared goals.
Outside of work, Libby is a certified yoga instructor who enjoys hiking and spending time in nature. Inspired by her mother, Libby's guiding motto is, “All you can do is all you can do, and all you can do is enough.”
