New Bookstore Partnership
Effective March 3, 2025, Montgomery College is partnering with Slingshot, a leading innovator established in 1997. Slingshot is known for having pioneered the first textbook rental service, and operating as champions of inclusive access to educational resources. Their dedication to improving student access and success aligns with our College's mission.
MC Campus Store Transition Timeline
- February 10, 2025 through February 21, 2025:
Up to 75% off on select art supplies. For details, please visit the Rockville Campus Store location. - February 14, 2025:
Last day to pick up online orders at Takoma Park/Silver Spring and Germantown Campus Stores. After February 14, all online orders will be available for pick-up at the Rockville Campus Store. - February 17, 2025:
Takoma Park/Silver Spring and Germantown Campus Stores will close to transform into course material distribution hubs for order pick-up and other student uses. Space uses and operating hours will be flexible and determined after engaging with each campus community to assess operational needs. - February 18, 2025:
Campus Store website transitioning to the new state-of-the-art ecommerce platform and relaunching on February 25. During the transition you may visit Rockville Campus Store, call 240-567-5302, or email montgomerycollege@bkstr.com. - February 21, 2025:
Last day to visit Rockville Campus Store to pick up online orders and work with store staff on any outstanding order inquiries, before the store transitions to the new vendor. - February 24, 2025:
Rockville Campus Store will close to consolidate inventory, install Slingshot’s point-of-sale system and portal to improve service efficiency. - February 25, 2025:
Slingshot launches their state-of-the-art ecommerce platform that includes faculty and student portals together with their online store website. - March 3, 2025:
Rockville Campus store will reopen as the College’s centrally located full-service bookstore, with Slingshot as our provider. Slingshot will manage the Rockville store and the Takoma Park/Silver Spring and Germantown hubs, bringing enhanced services to our community that will improve access and affordability of instructional materials and provide a host of new retail options for students, faculty, and staff.

All stores will be closed at this time to undergo the transition process. Community members are encouraged to visit the Rockville Campus Store prior to February 24, or after March 2.

You can visit the Rockville Campus Store to pick up online orders after February 14, 2025. You may also reach out to campus store staff (phone: 240-567-5302, email: montgomerycollege@bkstr.com) should you have any questions regarding your online order or any other store services.
Slingshot will have a website available on February 25, 2025. Please continue to visit the Auxiliary Enterprises’ MC Campus Store webpage for more information and the link to Slingshot’s online store. All campus store links on MC’s website will be updated to the new Slingshot store link.
The College community will receive additional communications regarding services offered by Slingshot in the near future.
Students and the College community can place orders online, and call or visit the MC Campus Store at the Rockville campus. Orders will be available for pick-up at Takoma Park/Silver Spring and Germantown campuses. Operating hours will be finalized after we engage our campus communities and Slingshot to evaluate operational needs. More information will be available on Slingshot’s campus store website.
Students are able to use their allotted financial aid book credit to purchase course materials and other approved products at the campus store.
Slingshot will partner with Jostens to provide student regalia, and faculty rental regalia. Student regalia will be available for purchase at each campus, during the Grad Fairs days. Students can purchase regalia online, or at the MC Campus Store, Rockville, at specific times leading up to Commencement. Faculty can order regalia via MC Campus Store (Rockville). Slingshot will continue to provide course materials for Dual Enrollment students using the current process established in collaboration with the Dual Enrollment office. Please visit the Dual Enrollmentnew window office for more information.
Faculty & Staff FAQs
Administrative staff, departments, course coordinators, and faculty will be able to enter adoptions via the Slingshot Pro online platform.
Training will be available online and on-demand, scheduled virtual sessions, and by contacting Slingshot’s customer support.
Slingshot is committed to academic freedom and encourages faculty to select materials that foster student success. Faculty should inform Slingshot regarding the usage of OER materials, to ensure students have visibility of these materials on the Slingshot Student Pro online platform
Yes, MC Campus Store will continue to collaborate with art faculty to ensure they have art supplies required for courses.
Depending on publisher and market availability, students may be able to rent and purchase printed and digital books.
The MC Campus Store will be able to assist with all department orders, including orders for custom merchandise.
