Montgomery College (MC) in Maryland invites inquiries, applications, and nominations for the position of Executive Director of the Pinkney Innovation Complex for Science and Technology (PIC MC).

Reporting to Dr. Michelle Campbell, the Senior Vice President for Advancement and Community Engagement, the Executive Director leads, manages, and oversees PIC MC, including the PIC MC Foundation Board and the development of the Pinkney Innovation Complex to support Montgomery College’s strategic plan, vision, and transformational aspirations.

Reporting directly to the Executive Director is the Board Relations and Marketing Director.

The Position

The responsibilities and duties of the Executive Director of the Pinkney Innovation Complex for Science and Technology (PIC MC) include:

  • Leading the Montgomery College Pinkney Innovation Complex for Science and Technology (PIC MC) and the PIC MC Foundation, a 509(a)(3) educational foundation.

  • Leading, managing, and overseeing PIC MC assets, including the Foundation Board and Germantown Campus real estate development. This involves securing funding and opportunities for life sciences, cybersecurity, technology, and STEM-related companies and driving projects that support an integrated academic, business, and research campus to enhance student access, completion, and post-completion success.

  • Directing initiatives to market and attract potential resident partners/companies to co-locate in PIC MC, while also overseeing and leading the development of partnerships that align with the College's mission for student success and workforce development.

In this role, the Executive Director must have board management experience. The ideal candidate will also have direct experience working in higher education, economic and workforce development, urban planning, business development, public/private partnership development, or a related field.

The Executive Director should possess strong interpersonal communication skills, the ability to build relationships with senior leaders, foundation boards, the college, and the business community, knowledge of nonprofit organization guidelines, familiarity with diverse industries including bioscience, life science, and biotechnology, operational expertise in real estate development, financial and administrative management capabilities for the PIC MC Foundation, and a commitment to advancing a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion.

The Executive Director should hold a business degree in a relevant field, such as business administration, finance, non-profit management, public administration, or organizational leadership. A Master’s degree is preferred.
