Email Warning Banner
IT Security will implement a new email warning feature to the body of emails received from an external sender, beginning Monday, October 27, 2025. The warning banner serves as a notification to help you identify suspicious emails coming from outside of Montgomery College.
If you receive an email from an external organization and do not recognize the sender, please use caution before clicking any links or opening attachments. If you are unsure, please use the Report Phishing button to report the message.

Frequently Asked Questions:

The purpose of the email warning banner is to help you recognize and prevent phishing attacks. The email warning banner serves as a visual cue to the recipient to pause and take caution before reacting.
Review the sending domain and compare that with the display name. The most common phishing tactic used by malicious actors is an email crafted with a display name to show a trusted name or email address at the College, yet the sending email address is external.
