Germantown Campus
The Germantown Campus of Montgomery College welcomes both returning and new students, including those who have engaged remotely in recent years. Located just 30 miles north of Washington, D.C., between Route 355 and Interstate 270, the scenic and expansive campus is home to The Pinkney Innovation Complex for Science and Technology at Montgomery College (PIC MC). It serves a richly diverse population of nearly 6,000 full-time and part-time students attending day, evening, and weekend classes.
The campus maintains strong ties with the local arts community and the businesses along the I-270 high-tech corridor. Key facilities include the LEED Gold-certified Bioscience Education Center, the LEED Silver Dr. DeRionne Pollard Student Affairs and Science Building, the High Technology and Science Center, and the county’s Germantown Innovation Center housed in the Paul Peck Academic and Innovation Building. Curricula and programs—particularly in biotechnology and cybersecurity—are designed to meet the workforce needs of some of the most dynamic and in-demand sectors in Montgomery County.
The Germantown Campus supports community engagement by making facilities available for public use, including conference and meeting spaces in the Paul Peck Academic and Innovation Building, the Bioscience Education Center, the Cybersecurity Center, and the 480-seat Globe Hall auditorium in the High Technology and Science Center.
As the home of PIC MC, the Germantown Campus operates as an integrated academic, business, and research campus. Build-to-suit acreage and business co-location opportunities are available through a development partner agreement. Academic offerings align with the region’s key industry sectors, such as life sciences, data science, information technology, cloud computing, and cyber technologies. Notably, PIC MC is anchored by Holy Cross Germantown Hospital—the only hospital in the United States located on a community college campus. The campus also houses a manufacturing facility built by Hughes Network Systems for the production of satellite broadband and networking equipment.
For more information, visit the Germantown Campus website.

Distance Education
Montgomery College offers flexible learning options through fully online and blended courses. Fully online courses are conducted entirely over the internet, allowing students to interact with instructors, access materials, participate in discussions, and submit assignments without coming to campus. Some courses may require limited on-campus activities, such as orientation sessions or proctored exams. Blended courses combine in-person class meetings with online instruction, offering both structure and flexibility. All online courses follow the same admissions, prerequisites, and academic standards as traditional, in-person classes.
Students enrolled in distance education have full access to academic support services, including advising, counseling, library resources, and campus-based learning centers. Online programs are taught by qualified faculty trained in effective digital instruction, and they meet the same learning objectives as on-campus offerings. Montgomery College currently offers 22 fully online degrees and 14 fully online certificates, several of which are designated as Z-degrees, meaning students do not need to purchase textbooks or materials. Information on Z-degrees and online programs can be found at montgomerycollege.edu/academics/mc-online.
