Open Enrollment: October 21 through November 8, 2024

October 21–November 8, 2024, for a January 1, 2025, effective date.

During open enrollment, employees have the option to change their benefit plans for the upcoming year. Outside of the open enrollment period, employees can only change their benefits if there is a life-altering event, including, but not limited to, marriage, divorce, and the birth or adoption of a child.

This year's open enrollment dates are tentatively set for October 21 through November 8, 2024, and any changes are effective January 1, 2025.

All benefit-eligible employees will be required to take action in Workday to complete their Open Enrollment task and ensure benefits are accurate and in place for 2025.

 

The following outlines the maximum dollars allocated to the Educational Assistance Program (EAP), Professional Development Assistance Program (PDAP), and travel funds available to eligible employees in FY25. Educational Assistance Program for Credit Courses

Bargaining and non-bargaining full-time staff, department chairs, and administrators enrolled in graduate or undergraduate coursework beyond the associate degree level are permitted to exceed the maximum EAP benefit noted above. The additional allowance is the amount equal to the University of Maryland rate for in-state tuition and feesnew window for graduate or undergraduate coursework for each credit, up to a maximum of 12 credits. The benefit for regular part-time staff working at least 20 hours per week is prorated. 

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has increased the contribution limit on flexible spending accounts (FSAs) to $3,200. As a result, individuals are now allowed to carry over 20% of that amount, equivalent to $640, from 2024 into 2025.

The Faculty and Staff Assistance Program (FSAP)new window is a free service provided by ComPsych for all employees designed to confidentially help employees with life issues and situations where professional guidance may be helpful. This coverage has been recently expanded to include part-time faculty, casual temporary staff, and student workers. To help families succeed, ComPsych FSAPnew window provides comprehensive resources and services to help meet your personal, family, and work challenges.

ComPsych is staffed by experienced, masters-level professionals who can help find solutions to many different issues, including:

  • Divorce and domestic issues
  • Emotional support
  • Family and pet support
  • Legal and financial services
  • Substance abuse
  • Travel and event planning
  • Will preparation

ComPsych services are available by phone, email, video counseling, webchat, and in-person.

The MC Wellness program continues to offer in-person and virtual wellness classes, open gym hours, nutrition support, onsite massages, fitness and movement challenges, flu shot clinics, and recreational programs such as pickleball and basketball for all employees, spouses, and retirees.

  • Yoga will be added to the virtual offerings, and recordings of virtual classes will be provided for those unable to attend in person.

  • Multiple dimensions of wellness, including physical, mental, emotional, and financial, will continue to be promoted and highlighted through educational resources, programs, and events.

MC Wellness will offer a new library of wellness and fitness videos accessible to all employees, spouses, and retirees.

On-campus partnerships: MC Wellness will continue to support departments in their wellness efforts and welcomes opportunities for collaboration.

Off-campus partnerships:  MC Wellness will join the Rockville Senior Center in hosting a wellness fair for active adults aged 60 and older. All employees and retirees are invited to participate in person or virtually.

Mental health first aid training will be offered on the first Friday of every month, which is free for MC employees. 

The maximum reimbursement for any activity or membership is $50 per month, which is considered a taxable benefit. After completion of six (6) months of employment, the following employees are eligible for wellness reimbursements:

  • Full-time faculty, administrators, and staff. 
  • Full-time temporary staff with benefits.
  • Part-time staff are eligible on a pro-rated basis, (i.e., 1/2 time = 1/2 benefit).
  • Bargaining part-time faculty that worked at least nine (9) ESH over the course of two (2) academic years.
  • Non-bargaining part-time faculty, casual temps, and student workers are not eligible for EAP/PDAP benefits.
