Health and Prescription Plans

As an eligible employee of Montgomery College, you can choose which health plan works best for you and your family – a high deductible plan with a health savings account, a Point of Service (POS) plan, or an HMO.

The details of each plan are presented below or visit Alexnew window to help you decide which plan is best for you.

Cigna Choice Fund

This is a Health Savings Account (HSA) paired with a high deductible medical plan. Start with the HSA Benefits Summary  (PDF, Get Adobe Acrobat PDF Reader.-Link opens in new window.) for an overview of the plan.

Plan Highlights:

  • Prescription drug benefits will accumulate toward the out-of-pocket maximum, as required under the Affordable Care Act (ACA).
  • The deductibles are: $1,500 individual/$3,000 employee + 1/$3,550 family.
  • The College contribution toward the HSA is: $500 individual/$750 employee +1/$1,000 family.
  • Employees can opt to fund additional dollars on a pre-tax basis: $3,350 (individual maximum), $7,000 (employee + 1 maximum) or $6,750 (family maximum). Employees age 55 or over can fund an additional $1,000.
  • The CIGNA Telehealth Connections (PDF, Get Adobe Acrobat PDF Reader.-Link opens in new window.) program will provide 24/7/365 access for minor health conditions. You can access care with MDLivenew window for a nominal cost.

Considerations to keep in mind for CIGNA Choice Fund participants:

  • Employees who elect to enroll in this plan may not be enrolled in a health care Flexible Spending Account (FSA). Participants may enroll in a limited FSA for vision and dental expenses.
  • New enrollees who are currently in a FSA must incur and be reimbursed for all expenses by the end of the calendar year, or else they may not be eligible for the full College HSA funding amount.
  • Employees enrolled in the Health Savings Account may not have other health coverage, including Medicare Part A, or be collecting Social Security benefits. Employees’ dependents may not have other health coverage, but may be Medicare participants.
  • Employees may utilize the HSA to pay for qualified medical, dental, pharmacy and vision expenses.
