Medallion Awards
The Medallion Awards are among the highest honors at Montgomery College, celebrating individuals who have demonstrated exceptional, outstanding, or distinguished service to the College, the academic profession, and the broader community. These awards—Gold, Silver, and Bronze Medallions, along with the Emerita/Emeritus title—highlight the impact of leadership, dedication, and innovation.

Gold Medallion
The Gold Medallion is the highest honor awarded by Montgomery College, recognizing exceptional service and nationally recognized presidential leadership in higher education. This award is reserved for individuals whose contributions have had a profound and lasting impact on the College, the academic profession, or the broader community.
Criteria:
- Exceptional leadership and dedication in higher education.
- Specific acts of documented, exceptional service that place the individual well above others.
- Nationally recognized contributions to the College or the academic profession.
- Length of service may be considered, but the quality of service is paramount.
- May be awarded posthumously if criteria are met.
Silver Medallion
The Silver Medallion honors individuals who have demonstrated outstanding service to Montgomery College, the academic profession, or the community. This award celebrates
those whose contributions have significantly advanced the College’s mission and values.
Criteria:
- Documented acts of outstanding service to the College, county, state, or nation.
- Contributions that place the individual above others in sustained and distinguished service.
- Length of service may be considered, but the quality of service is the primary factor.
- May be awarded posthumously if criteria are met.
Bronze Medallion
The Bronze Medallion recognizes distinguished service to Montgomery College. This award is given to individuals whose dedication and contributions have made a meaningful impact on the College community.
Criteria:
- Distinguished service to the College, documented through specific acts or sustained performance.
- A record of exceptional contributions over an extended period.
- May be awarded posthumously if criteria are met.
